Gori

Driving through Shida Kartli, many tourists will certainly want to stay in the city of Gori.
Most of the city is known for the fact that Joseph Stalin was born in it. Despite the fact that the first mentions of Gori date back to the 12th century, there are no ancient buildings in the city. In 1920, an earthquake leveled almost the entire city to the ground. Therefore, all the buildings in the city are relatively new.
From the old formations you can see the fortress Goristsikhe (fortress of Gori), as well as the city in the rock Uplistsikhe (Fortress of the Most High).

City Market

Due to the fact that the city of Gori is the administrative center of the whole of Shida Kartli, all the main trade is concentrated here.
In the western part of the city there is a large market for which they go if they need to buy something that is not sold in small stores.
The market is lively and has an old look. Unpretentious stalls with goods. Lovers of natural food will love it.

Justice Building

If you have already arrived in Gori and reached the market, then you should look at the building of justice. Like the building of justice in Tbilisi, it is here of a very original form.

Stalin Museum

The city of Gori is also famous for the fact that Joseph Stalin was born here. During Soviet times, during the life of Stalin, a small museum was created in his house. Later in the 50s the museum was heavily rebuilt. The atmosphere in the museum was a match for the personality of Stalin.

Today the museum has gone beyond the same house. The old house itself is just one of the exhibits. A stone structure was built around it to save the house where Stalin was born. Next to it was built a large building which houses the main museum exposition.
It is noteworthy that this is the most visited museum in Georgia.
