Achi monastery was built in western Georgia in XIII century. You can find it 9 km south of Ozurgeti, in village Acha. Monastery is surrounded with evergreen forest, there is a river nearby.
Monastery has stone architecture. Inside you can see ancient frescoes and paintings in ancient Georgian language. Those artifacts are important part of Georgian historical heritage.
Silver gilded cross has been discovered in Achi monastery. Cross was covered with writings in ancient Georgian. It appeared that it was very important relic. With this cross army made swears of loyalty to king. It also appeared that long ago cross was inlaid with gems, but now those gems are lost.
